THE SETTING

At aAO, the setting is part of the story. Tucked into Miami's vibrant Buena Vista neighborhood, the restaurant blends the energy of the city with the warmth of a neighborhood gathering place. The space was created to feel lived in and welcoming—elegant enough for a special occasion, comfortable enough for a spontaneous weeknight dinner.
 

As the sun sets, the courtyard comes alive. String lights glow beneath the trees, glasses clink across shared tables, and the pace of the city softens for a while. It's the kind of place where dinner turns into conversation, conversation turns into community, and every visit feels a little like coming home.

THE CHEF

Chef Robyn Almodovar is a nationally recognized chef, entrepreneur, and television personality. She has spent more than two decades building her reputation across South Florida's culinary scene, earning recognition for her bold flavors, dynamic leadership, and ability to create memorable dining experiences.

Robyn has appeared on some of the country's most recognized culinary competition series, including Hell's Kitchen, Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, and 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing. With aAO, Robyn brings together the influences, experiences, and lessons that have shaped her career, creating her most personal and ambitious restaurant concept to date.

THE FOOD

The menu at aAO reflects the many influences that have shaped Chef Robyn Almodovar's culinary journey. Drawing inspiration from her Puerto Rican and Italian heritage, South Florida's vibrant food culture, and years spent leading professional kitchens, each dish is crafted with creativity, balance, and love.
 

From signature dishes like Beef Wellington to new offerings such as grilled octopus with smoked bravas sauce, the menu celebrates bold flavors, quality ingredients, and thoughtful execution. Designed to be both approachable and memorable, aAO delivers a dining experience that feels familiar, exciting, and uniquely its own.

AGAINST ALL ODDS

Against All Odds (aAO)  is more than a restaurant name—it's the story of a career built through perseverance, reinvention, and an unwavering belief in what's possible.

Long before television appearances and national recognition, Chef Robyn Almodovar was building her foundation one opportunity at a time. From cooking aboard luxury yachts to launching the award-winning Palate Party food truck, she learned that success rarely follows a straight line. Each chapter brought new challenges, new lessons, and new opportunities to grow.

Over the years, Robyn continued to build her reputation in kitchens across the country, including serving as Executive Chef at the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. She later returned to South Florida, where her leadership at Timbr helped establish the restaurant as one of Fort Lauderdale's most celebrated dining destinations.

Today, aAO represents the culmination of that journey. It is the first restaurant concept that is entirely her own—a place built from experience, passion, resilience, and the belief that every setback can become the foundation for something greater. More than a restaurant, aAO is proof that when talent meets persistence, extraordinary things can happen.
